Elementary Summer Program Activity: Get A Clue! Weekly beginning June 4. Get a Clue is a complete summer program for children who finish grades K-5 in 2007. A mystery game, tracking reading for prizes and awards, a weekly movie, a weekly craft, book fair and other special events, including a storyteller, magician, a theatre company and even a doctor of scat! Location: Childrens Room.
Teen Summer Program. Weekly beginning June 4.
YNK is a summer program for teens. Track hours read for awards and prizes. A weekly movie, puppet workshop, a magic workshop, a euchre tournament with cash prizes, a C.S.I. Library Lock-in and a Mystery Lock-in and a Book Fair are all in...well, You Never Know! Location: Teen Room.
A Story Time for 3-5 year olds. Themed Story Times - Curious? Read! June 6, 13, 20, 27, July 11, 18, 25, August 1, 8, 15, 22, 29. 10:45 a.m. - 11:45 a.m. This is a 30-60 minute program featuring: stories read and told; songs; finger plays; poems; rhymes and a craft. This is a drop-in program. Location: Childrens Program Room.
Parent/Child LapSit Program. June 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28, July 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 25, 26, August 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 30. 10:00 a.m. - 10:20 a.m. A fun, 20-minute literacy program for parent AND child under three, quickly paced. Enjoy a mixture of songs, stories, finger plays, poems and puppets. Repetition is important at this age and the program will reflect that developmental need. This is a drop-in program. Elementary Summer Program Activity presents Roan Judd Get a Clue About
Failte. June 14, 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. (Pronounced Fall-chal, means welcome in Irish Gaelic.) A special show featuring folklore, Bodhran (Irish Drum) and ditties and perhaps even a Leprechaun or two - from where else? IRELAND! Location: Carnegie Building, upstairs.
Teen Summer Activity. Puppetry Workshop with Roan Judd. June 14, 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Come and find your inner puppet, tips to get you started, etc. This is an ideal and FUN way to see if this age-old art interests you at all. Location: Carnegie, downstairs.
Elementary Summer Program Activity. Acting Up Theatre Company presents The Case of the Missing Books. June 20, 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. A person minding their own business visits the library and emerges with a whole stack of books that they cant wait to read. But slowly one-by-one the books begin to disappear in mysterious fashion. The show will be filled with the Acting Up Theatre Company staples of audience participation (prizes for volunteers), many different character changes, comedy and wonderful lessons about friendship, solving problems and the importance of reading. Location: Carnegie Building, upstairs.
Elementary Summer Program Activity. Crafternoon. Every Thursday beginning June 21 through July 26, 3:00 p.m. To 4:00 p.m. Mysterious crafts! Location: Childrens Program Room.
Teen Summer Activity. YNK Library Lock-in #1: C.S.I. June 22, 6:00 p.m. -12:00 a.m. Eat food and play C.S.I. The Board Game, individually or in teams. Depending upon how long that takes, we may watch a movie, do a craft or something else you choose. Sign up at Youth Desk in person or by phone (758-3112) by 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, 6/21. There will be a $7.50 charge for dinner (pizza), pop and snacks.

The Scoop on Poop. July 11, 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Pete Stobie of the Kalamazoo Nature is an Award-winning interpreter who will show us how to learn about wildlife by what animals leave behind. That study even has a name: Scatology. Location: Carnegie Building, upstairs.

Teen Summer Activity. A 2 Magic Workshop with Jeff Wawrzaszek. July 26, 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. You will learn 5-6 simply amazing, yet amazingly simple magic tricks that you will be able to perform anywhere. You may learn some sleight-of-hand, astonishing mind reading stunts, or some very cool, rarely seen tricks with common items like ropes, rubber bands, cards and money. July 27 & 28, 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. August 1 & 2, 12 p.m. -7 p.m. August 3, 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. August 30 & 31, 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. Scholastic books for all ages! Buy one, get one of equal or lesser value free. Stock up for Christmas gifts. Or, buy one, give one to the library if you cant decide on that second title. Location: Childrens Program Room.

August 18, 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. (This event may run longer, depending upon the number of participants) $5.00 entry fee (waived for teens that participate in the program and reach Level I by August 11). Sign up by 5:00 p.m. Friday August 17. Sam Goody gift certificates will be the prizes: 1st place - $30.00, 2nd place - $20.00 and 3rd place $10.00. Snacks provided. Exhibition: Art in Public Places. May 1, 2005 -November 1, 2008. See the work of seven Michigan sculptors by placing these works in seven sites in northern Michigan, including the Pellston Airport; the Jean Jardine Park in Harbor Springs; at the entrance to Crooked Tree Arts Center as well as at the entrance to Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey; at the Charlevoix Public Library; in downtown Boyne City; and at the site of the Jordan River Arts Council in East Jordan. 231-347-5731.
Exhibition: The Beatles! Backstage and Behind the Scenes. April 27 -July 8. The early years of Beatlemania are captured in this fine art photography exhibition from the archives of CBS Television and LIFE photographer, Bill Eppridge. The exhibit showcases eighty-four images of The Beatles, backstage and behind the scenes from 1964. A variety of additional Beatles events planned. Coffee at Ten: Lecture by Bill Eppridge, LIFE Magazine photographer. June 22, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. To 9 p.m. Join us in the gallery at 10 a.m. for a lecture with featured photographer, Bill Eppridge, discussing the Beatles photography exhibit. Everyone is welcome at this free event.
Coffee at Ten: Beauty of Northern Michigan. July 24, 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Rand Shackleton explores Beaver Island, Mackinac Island and more through his video documentaries. You will delight in the beauty of Northern Michigan with a master of videography.
2007 Paint Out. July 28, 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. There will be artists painting all around Petoskey! Artists will gather downtown and then venture anywhere in the area to begin a day of plain air painting. Artists will capture a day in the life of Petoskey on canvas or paper. The completed artwork must be returned to CTAC framed and ready to hang by 6 p.m. that same day. From 6-8 p.m., there will be a wine and cheese opening reception and the work will be on display and for sale in the lower level of CTAC until the end of August.
Up North with the Hemingways. Exhibition. July 28 -August 25. The Michigan Hemingway Society and the Clarke Historical Library at Central Michigan are proud to announce Up North with the Hemingways, a jointly sponsored exhibit.

Spring Open House. Downtown, All Day. Come and discover what Petoskey has to offer all summer long. Entertainment includes music, wandering magicians, a JEEP show and much more. Downtown restaurants will present a sampling of their menus.
Concerts in the Park. Every Tuesday and Friday June 19 - August 17 at noon and 7 p.m. The Pennsylvania Park Gazebo will once again welcome musicians to entertain the crowd throughout the summer. Bring your chairs, blankets, snacks, and dancing shoes and celebrate life in Northern Michigan!
Downtown Gallery Walk. June 21, 5:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. The art world will descend upon Downtown Petoskey for its 7th Annual Gallery Walk. Participating art galleries will greet guests in an open-house format and offer delights for your eyes, ears and taste buds. Many of the galleries will have the artists present to introduce their works. Join the galleries for an afterglow at Staffords Perry Hotel, where they will give away thousands of dollars worth of artwork.
Downtown Petoskey Farmers Market. Every Friday beginning June 22. 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Local farmers will present their wares on Howard Street, between JC Penny and Julienne Tomatoes. Whether youre looking for great food for breakfast, lunch or dinner, or flowers to grace your summer home, this farmers market is the pace to be.
Art in the Park. July 21. Over 130 artists from around the nation will be on hand for this great one-day juried art show. Items will range form wall art to jewelry, pottery and more. Art lovers of all ages will find things to fall in love with at this show.
Downtown Petoskey Sidewalk Sale. July 27-28. Downtown Petoskey spills out onto the streets for this Dont-Miss Sale for two days only. Bargain shoppers will have a great time and people new to Petoskey will be able to discover the wonderful stores Downtown Petoskey has to offer.
Festival on the Bay. August 17-19. Help us celebrate our beautiful waterfront and Million-Dollar Sunsets by enjoying concerts, sporting events, street performers, food vendors, an entertainment tent, a childrens area and much more.

Family Dance! June 1, 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Family Dance for the Spring Downtown Open House. In the Courtyard (or Carnegie Basement-if rain). Features a live band (Ritchie, Scott & Fowler) and dance caller (Jan Fowler). All dances will be taught and kept at an appropriate level for the whole family to enjoy. Friends at the Carnegie Evening Programs. June 6, 7:00 p.m. The talented Ray Kamalay will be taking us on a musical adventure from the early days of the United States up to the present with his program Freedom, Slavery and American Popular Music.
